The Ten Cheapest NHL Season Tickets
68Teams whose most devoted fans don't have to break the bank
National Hockey League teams aren't exactly known for having inexpensive tickets - the league has a dedicated and wealthy fan base and knows it, which pushes the average ticket price to well over $50. And despite these prices, there are nine teams that are so popular, they don't even have season tickets for sale for the 2011-2012 season. Hockey fans in these ten cities are in luck though, as they can take advantage of some great deals that will get them in the building for all 41 home games this season.
10. Colorado Avalanche
The Avalanche had a poor season in 2009-2010, finishing with the second-worst record in the Western Conference. That's good news for fans' wallets as the Avs are offering tickets in two upper level sections at $18 a seat.
9. St. Louis Blues
St. Louis is known for having rabid sports fans, but the Blues join the Avalanche in offering season tickets for $18 a game. This deal is available for seats in row K or higher in every upper level section but the six in the center.
8. New Jersey Devils
The Devils missed the playoffs despite the Ilya Kovalchuk signing, and play in the shadow of the more popular Rangers across the river. They're competing on price, offering season tickets to the Prudential Center at $15.25 a game.
7. Columbus Blue Jackets
Columbus offers the cheapest season tickets of any cold weather city in the NHL at $15 a seat. They're in the top two rows of the upper level, but the Blue Jackets are one of the only teams in the NHL to offer center ice tickets even in the nosebleeds at the cheapest price.
6. Tampa Bay Lightning
The Lightning have 18 full sections which they offer at only $15 a game, and they give a free jersey with each seat. The jersey contains a microchip that gives a 25% discount on food and 35% on merchandise. The Bolts are definitely the best team on this list - they bring back most of the same players who missed the Stanley Cup Finals by one goal.
5. Dallas Stars
The Stars barely missed the playoffs last season and are selling full season seats in the East Terrace for only $13 a game. If Dallas makes the playoffs, season ticket holders can get tickets in advance and don't have to pay until the playoff run is over.
4. Anaheim Ducks
The Ducks are coming off a good season in which they finished fourth in the Western Conference, but fans can get into the Honda Center for only $12.50 a game in 2011-12. The seats are at the top of the end sections, but this is a great deal for entertainment in pricey Orange County. The team lets season ticket holders pay in five installments with no interest.
3. Los Angeles Kings
The Kings were a playoff team and sold out 35 games last year, but they still offered upper end tickets in the "Die Hards" section for $12 a game. Southern California just got more bizarre.
2. Phoenix Coyotes
The Coyotes are notorious for attendance issues, but ticket prices aren't to blame. Despite the team's new status as a perennial contender, season tickets in the top four rows of the upper end are available for only $10 a game. And if fans want to be closer, except for four sections at center ice, the rest of the entire upper level is only $15 a game.
1. Florida Panthers
The Panthers may not be the most exciting team on the ice, but you can get Terrace Level season tickets to the BankAtlantic Center for an astounding $8.25 a game. That's only $363 a ticket for the whole season - giving the Panthers easily the cheapest tickets in the NHL.
